Over the course of several decades, Anselm Kiefer has transformed La Ribaute—a 40-hectare site located in the south of France in Barjac, north of Nîmes—into a uniquely immersive artistic environment, creating numerous installations, often at monumental scale. Our guided tours of La Ribaute offer visitors a chance to encounter a curated selection of works by Kiefer, as well as those by five other artists.

Tickets

All tickets must be booked online, in advance—they cannot be purchased on site at La Ribaute. Your ticket will include full directions to the site, as well as other practical information for your visit.

  • General admission: 29,00 €
  • Reduced price (ages 13–25): 17,00 €
  • Youth (12 and under): Free

Descriptions of our proposed tours for 2024 will be on our ticketing platform at the end of January 2024.

 

* We thank you for your interest in visiting La Ribaute. Please be aware that all available tickets for La Ribaute’s guided visits are updated on the booking calendar regularly. Guided visits are limited to a specific number of tickets per visit. We do not add additional tickets to sold-out visits and there is no waiting list. If additional tickets do become available, these tickets will be posted directly online. Please note that once booked, tickets can be neither changed nor refunded. By purchasing a ticket visitors accept the conditions as described in the foundation’s Terms of Visit.

Groups

If you would like to organize a visit for an independent group, please contact us. We will work directly with you to prepare your visit, taking into account the specific needs of your group or organization.

For visitors booking our public tours, please note:

  • Tours begin promptly at the time indicated on the admission ticket. Visitors are asked to arrive on site 15 minutes before beginning of the visit, and are advised that once a tour has departed, latecomers cannot be admitted.
  • Once booked, tickets cannot be changed or refunded.

  • Tickets for our guided tours cannot be purchased on site—they must be booked online and in advance.

 

  • Tour routes feature unpaved roads, dirt paths, stairs and narrow underground tunnels, so please wear suitable footwear.
  • A large portion of the tours are conducted in the open air, so please be prepared for specific weather conditions, as necessary; we will not cancel tours due to rain—and if it does rain, paths and roads on the site can become very muddy. In the case of rain, we recommend that visitors wear rain boots.
  • Please be aware that tours may not be suitable for younger children, specifically kids that are 6 years of age or under.

 

  • There is outdoor parking available next to the entrance of La Ribaute.
  • There are public toilets on site.
  • There are no lockers on site, so personal belongings will either need to be locked in your car or carried with you on the tour.

 

  • We politely ask that a strict policy of No Photography be respected at all times at La Ribaute – to request press images, please contact us.
  • Out of respect for your tour guide and fellow visitors we ask that cell phones and other electronic devices be turned to vibrate or silent during the tour.
  • Due to fire hazard, smoking (including e-cigarettes) is strictly forbidden on-site at La Ribaute.
  • In an attempt to reduce plastic, we kindly ask that guests bring their own water bottles, which they can refill on site.
  • Pets are not permitted on site, with the exception of service animals.
Accessibility

Please let us know at the time of booking if you or a member of your party have any additional mobility requirements.

La Ribaute was originally created as a private studio and residence by Anselm Kiefer. The Eschaton-Anselm Kiefer Foundation aims to provide accessibility solutions, upon request, for visitors to the site. The majority of guided tours can be adapted for wheelchair users. There are short portions of tours that are not accessible to individuals with limited mobility—including a section of narrow tunnels and a staircase. These sections can be experienced visually via a pre-recorded video in a nearby viewing space; this provision also enables visitors who are uncomfortable in restricted spaces to understand the architecture of the relevant works.

We have a wheelchair-accessible toilets on site.
