FAQ

Below are the answers to frequently asked questions. Please note that “La Ribaute” refers to the site, which is part of Eschaton Foundation.

How does a visit to La Ribaute work?

Tours are exclusively guided. They take place on foot over a distance of at least 4km.
A few minutes before the time indicated on your tickets, visitors are picked up by professional tour guides and a security assistant. You must follow the group from start to finish. It is not possible to stop in the middle of the tour, or to wander in an area other than that of your guide.
There will be pauses to let visitors observe the works, as well as a bathroom break in the middle of the tour.
Please note that you are required to keep with you at all times anything you bring on the tour; items cannot be left behind at any point to be collected later.

Can we arrive late?

We cannot come get you after the tour has started. Therefore, latecomers will unfortunately not be accepted.

If a problem occurs on your journey, we suggest you send an email with the subject line “urgent delay” and include in the message your contact details and the approximate time of your arrival. However, there is no guarantee that it will be read in time. The site is very large, and depending on the needs of the groups, we may not be able to assign someone to welcome late arrivals.

How long do tours last?

Guided tours take place over long periods: 2h45 is the shortest.

Is it possible to walk around La Ribaute on your own?

No, La Ribaute can only be visited with a guide. Guides are on hand to ensure your safety and the safety of the site.

Is the tour difficult for people with walking difficulties?

The route is a 4 km walk. It takes in roads and dirt tracks, some of which are steep, with fairly significant gradients.
The shortest route lasts 2h45-3h, and visitors are asked to follow the pace of the group.
Unfortunately, we cannot allow visitors to stop and wait on their own for the tour to end in the case that they cannot keep up. The tour makes a loop, and visitors must be accompanied at all times. They must follow their group to the end of the tour and exit.

Is it possible to take photos on site?

The foundation does not authorize photographs. As we are a private foundation, the works exhibited are not free of copyright.

To enable visitors to keep a personal souvenir of their visit, the foundation allows for a point during the tour for taking non-professional photos for private use ONLY. This point is indicated by the guide.

Professional cameras and similar equipment are not permitted.

Is it possible to touch the works?

The works and the site itself form a whole, considered as a total work of art. In order to offer visitors a direct experience of the works and the various spaces, we have chosen not to use barriers.
Throughout the site, we kindly ask you to respect the works of art and the various artistic installations in which you will be moving, and not to touch them.

Is drawing allowed in the pavilions?

Drawing is permitted in the pavilions, but group visits without long breaks are not designed for the artistic practice of drawing.
